Apple Watch Series 3 with cellular grabs 80% of model's pre-orders, topping 30% forecast
Brokerage firm KGI Securities, home to quite possibly the best Apple analyst in Ming-Chi Kuo, had predicted that only 30% to 40% of pre-orders for the Apple Watch Series 3 would be for the cellular enabled model. This is the variant that doesn't need to be paired to an iPhone to connect to the internet, make/take calls, and send texts. The rest of the orders, predicted Kuo, would be for the non-cellular Series 3 timepiece.
But judging from the data collected since pre-orders began on September 15th, it appears that this time the highly regarded analyst has had to change his estimate. Kuo now says that 80% to 90% of pre-orders will reserve a unit with cellular capabilities. Initial shipments arrive on September 22nd. Orders placed today for the cellular model will be delivered in 3 to 4 weeks, October 2nd for the non-cellular version.

For those who are happy with the older Series 1 Apple Watch, prices begin at $249. Apple Watch Series 2 has been discontinued.
