Apple Maps now includes all of Amtrak's routes in North America

Apple Maps stands now and forever as proof that not everything Apple touches turns to gold. Of course, developing a map that is called potentially life-threatening is not that easy to do. Neither is mislabeling the second tallest building in the U.S. In typical Apple fashion, the tech titan vowed to turn things around even if former iOS chief Scott Forstall was served up as the sacrificial lamb. Now, even Apple Maps gets to be part of the magical existence of iOS, which is summed up always in three words: "it just works."

Previously, Apple Maps tracked Amtrak routes in the Northeast. Today, Amtrak's routes in the Midwest, Northwest, South, and West regions of the U.S. can also be found on the application, along with Amtrak routes covering Canadian cities like Montreal and Vancouver. These routes carry romantic names such as California Zephyr, Coast Starlight and the Heartland Flyer. In addition, other Northeastern routes such as the Adirondack and the Downeaster have been added to Apple Maps.

If travel time is not important, you should experience train travel at least once in your life; there is something exciting about sitting back and watching as the country appears through your window. Those of you who have already taken an Amtrak train know that feeling of passing through a small city at 3am, holding up a lone car as it waits for you to pass so it can get across the tracks. With the expansion of Apple Maps support to all of Amtrak's North American system, you'll know the name of that one-horse town you just went through without having to bother someone else to find out.
