Apple AppStore zips past the 2bln download mark
Apple AppStore is currently catering for a customer base of more than 50 mln. iPhone and iPod touch owners, offering an eye-watering range of over 85,000 unique applications, accessible from 77 countries worldwide. More than 125,000 developers are reported to be directly involved in the creation of programs for the AppStore at this time and obviously size does matter, since due to its immense scale of operations, the online store keeps breaking records on regular. The website zoomed past the whopping 1,000 mln. download mark this April and just 19 days ago Apple reported the count had topped 1,800 mln. The store has been building up market momentum ever since its launch, but it seems the rate of downloads continues to accelerate and has reached the staggering 200 mln. over the last two weeks and a half. The Cupertino-based company has just announced they passed the 2 bln milestone. We certainly wish the other major players - Android Market, BlackBerry App World, webOS App Catalog, as well as Windows Marketplace for Mobile that is soon to take off similar success.
