Rumor: The Apple AirPower could "charge" store shelves mid-March
The Apple AirPower – the wireless charging mat, which Apple announced last September, alongside the iPhone X and the iPhone 8 / 8 Plus, may hit store shelves in March, according to sources. Keep in mind this is only a rumor, and we are yet to hear an official announcement from Apple.
The AirPower wireless charger was showcased as being capable of charging your AirPods, iPhone, and Apple Watch at the same time. When it announced the AirPower back in September, 2017, Apple said the charger will be released sometime in 2018, but did not mention any exact date.
Not much else is known about the AirPower. We don't know if it will support Android devices or what's the price tag going to be.
Apple is pretty new to the wireless charging game. The current generation of iPhones, the Apple Watch, and the AirPods are the first Apple products to support the Qi technology for wireless charging, which has made its debut on Android devices way back in 2012.
In case you can't wait for the release of the AirPower, there are other already available options from companies, such as Aukey, Anker and Belkin.
