After a roughly two month delay, the Bluetooth powered, wireless in-ear Apple AirPods were available for pre-orders starting earlier today. Priced at $159.99, the lack of a 3.5mm earphone jack on the Apple iPhone 7 and Apple iPhone 7 Plus means that Apple has a huge ready-made audience that are potential buyers of the device. The AirPods are powered by Apple's W1 chip and can last for five hours on a single charge. The box can be used as a wireless charger adding another 24-hours of power.
AirPods now ship in 4 weeks
Demand for the AirPods was pretty much as expected, which is to say that the product is on back order after originally showing a December 21st shipping date. On Apple's website, the AirPods will now ship in four weeks. If you missed the opportunity to have a pair of AirPods in your possession by Christmas, all is not lost as long as you don't mind shelling out big bucks for the product on eBay.
Prices for the AirPods on eBay promising delivery before December 25th, range from $349 to as high as $2,000. Now, we know that some of you out there just have to have the latest Apple product. But if you wait a couple of weeks for Christmas to be over, the inflated prices on eBay are sure to come back down to earth. And if it isn't important that the neighbors see that you are first on the block with the AirPods in your ears, you can order now, save money, and wait the 4 weeks.
Need the AirPods now? It will cost you as much as $2K on eBay
