App for Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade lets you watch the festivities from afar
Even if you are not in the Big Apple, or not watching the 85th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade from a television, you can still viewyour favorite balloon float above the crowd thanks to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade app. The free download is available from both the Android Market and from the App Store.
Live streamed video from cameras mounted on traffic lights will allow you to view the parade as it makes its way around Macy's flagship store in Herald Square. For those in the city and planning on viewing the festivities up close and personal, the app gives you parade routes, the participants involved in the parade, transit information, weather, areas where you can find a Wi-Fi signal, places to dine and even locations where you can get a steaming cup of Joe to warm you up. And after the coffee has made its way through your system, one click gives you a list of restrooms in the area. A special Parade Participant Tracker allows you to keep tabs on dance troupes, marching bands and Santa's float.
