Android users soon to get Opera Mobile with pinch-to-zoom and more
Opera first tried its "mini" browser, but it was not enough to make you swap from your stock Android browser, or leave the other third party browser that you have become used to. Now, the software company is bringing in the big guns-Opera Mobile will be ready for Android within the next month and will be bearing two new features.
Available for any Android model, the Opera Mobile for Android will bring to the table something new called Hardware Acceleration. According to Opera, this will allow the browser to run at "lightening speed", navigation will be "faster than ever" and changes to the UI are "momentous". No, this is certainly not your grandfather's Opera browser.
The other new feature, pinch-to-zoom, requires no introduction for the large number of you who move your thumb and forefinger together on a web site, almost simulating a lobster's claw, to zoom in and out of a web site. According to Opera, with the new pinch-to-zoom support you will be able to "...choose your own level of zoom just like in Opera Desktop. Text will now be rendered at a per character level and zooming in will be a fluid zoom from page-width down to the text you want to focus on."
Within the next month, the new Opera Mobile for Android will be available from the Android Market or from m.opera.com. Finally, an Opera that both gals and guys can agree is worth watching.
