Android Auto gets new look, dark mode and lots of nifty improvements
Google announced a major update for Android Auto is now available for download. Since its launch back in 2015, Android Auto has expanded to support more than 500 car models from no less than 50 brands.
The new design launched today will roll out to all Android Auto compatible cars later this summer, Google mentions in a blog post. As the title says, the update brings a dark theme, which is coupled with colorful accents and easier to read fonts meant to improve visibility.
But that's not all, as Android Auto users will be able to see their turn-by-turn directions and control their apps and phone on the same screen thanks to a new navigation bar added in this update. Also, Android Auto will now continue playing media and show your navigation app of choice as soon as it starts.
The new navigation bar will also make it easier for Android Auto users to control their apps with one tap, get turn-by-turn directions, rewind podcasts, as well as take incoming calls all on the same screen.

Last but not least, Android Auto will now maximize the display to show you more information no matter how wide your car's screen is. Next-turn directions, playback controls, and ongoing calls will be shown on the screen thanks to the new improvement.
