Samsung is never clear about Android OS updates unless it involves high-end smartphones and tablets, which are almost always getting major software upgrades for about two years.

The Galaxy J7 (2016) is one of Samsung's mid-rangers that made its debut on the market more than a year ago. The smartphone is still running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, as Samsung hasn't said anything about a possible Nougat update.

The good news is Samsung doesn't have to say anything as long as we can crawl the internet for info. The Galaxy J7 (2017) has been recently listed at Wi-Fi Alliance, which normally wouldn't be out of the ordinary, but the phone is now running a newer version of Android.

The handset that goes by model number Samsung SM-J710F is powered by Android 7.0 Nougat, which suggests the South Korean company plans to provide owners with the highly-anticipated update.

So, the question that remains is not if the Galaxy J7 (2016) will be getting Android 7.0 Nougat, but rather when exactly that will happen. It might not even be the last major update the smartphone will receive now that Android O's release just around the corner.
