Last month, two HTC executives (Mo Versi and Jason Mackenzie) said that the Verizon version of the HTC One (M8) would finally receive the Android 4.4.3 update in early September. Well, we have some good news for Big Red customers totin' HTC's flagship handset. A tweet from Mo Versi sent on Monday, reveals that the long awaited update will finally start rolling out on Wednesday.
The Android 4.4.3 update for Verizon's variant of the HTC One (M8) should be the phone's last before Android L. That is because HTC took the security updates from Android 4.4.4 and added them to the Android 4.4.3 update. Improvements will be seen for BoomSound, Quick Settings and the Motion Launcher. Other enhancements will be available for the Camera, Settings, Gallery and HTC Sync manager.
But the most exciting part of the update, something that Verizon customers with the HTC One (M8) have been waiting for, is the Extreme Power Savings Mode. This is a setting that halts all essential operations, limiting the device to making and taking calls, sending and receiving texts, and looking at emails manually. By doing this, you will be able to let each 1% of battery life last for three hours. That means you could keep your phone running for 24 hours with just 8% of battery life remaining.
The update will be going out OTA, so if you own the HTC One (M8) from Verizon, keep your eyes peeled for the notification that the update has arrived, starting on Wednesday.
