After hearing that the HTC Droid Eris was going to be placed on the end of life list alongside the BlackBerry Tour 9630, it was evident that something else was going to be replaced. Enter the HTC Droid Incredible which brought on Android 2.1 to the number one wireless carrier in the country – and signaled the Droid Eris's last days. Fortunately it won't be fading so soon into the sunset as it looks like the smartphone will soon be getting the much needed upgraded to Android 2.1 according to its support page online. Despite no direct mention of it being Android 2.1, reading into the change log makes it quite evident that it's the real thing. However, there is still no definite word on when it's expected to be released, but it's rumored to come around before the end of the month so that existing handset owners can look forward to something good.
