Analysts agree with each other - webOS-powered tablet should be available by March, 2011
A group of BMO Capital Markets analysts made a visit to the Asia Pacific region to see for themselves what to expect on the high-tech front in 2011. One of these researchers was Keith Bachman and, according to him, we can expect the first webOS-powered tablet in March, 2011.
Particular information about the tablet wasn't revealed, but it's interesting to note that Bachman doesn't seem convinced that the so-called PalmPad is destined for big success, partly because virtually everyone plans to release a tab or two.
One thing that seems likely, though, is that the PalmPad's launch date will be around March next year, since this is the very same month (and year) that Stifel Nicolaus analyst Doug Reid pointed as probable release date of the tablet back in November.
The guys at BMO Capital Markets forecast that tablet sales will be around 40 million in 2011 worldwide, which is a conservative estimate, given that Gartner predicts 54.8 million tablets sold by the end of 2011 and supply chain checks point that Apple plans to produce 48 million iPads.
