An iOS vs Android app revenue study shows how East Asia encroaches on the US turf
App Annie has issued its latest app market situation research for the worlds of Android and iOS, broken down by markets, countries and so on.
There are several interesting takes - Japan overtook the US in Google Play Store app revenue, so that's something to keep in mind if you are a developer. China is also closing in onto the US in app downloads as another huge potential market.
Also, 9 out of 10 publishers by revenue in both the App Store and Google Play, are game developers, and the App Store still rakes in 4x the revenue of the Play Store, but the gap is closing, mainly due to revenues collected by Android game publishers.
