American Airlines diversifies its tablet uptake, offers Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 on select flights
After giving iPads to its flight crew, American Airlines is turning to the rival mobile OS for the passengers. The company said it will be providing Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 slates on select flights in the First and Business Class.
The routes where one of Android's finest will be offered are JFK, Boston and Miami to LA, as well as JFK and Miami to San Francisco. Initially, customers can choose from over 70 movies to watch, with 30 of them fresh releases, and 3 exclusives from Paramount. Various TV shows and music playlists will also be offered for consumption on Samsung's tablet during flight.
Beginning in next quarter, passengers will have Internet access through the tablets on select flights, as well as games, eBooks, and other entertainment options. If only Alec Baldwin knew this, he might have spared American Airlines the skits he made during SNL, after he was kicked out of a flight for playing a mobile game.
