Amazon is rewarding customers who bought its Fire HD tablets with the option to buy an extra accessory that will turn their slates into Echo Shows – the Show Mode Charging Dock. As the name suggests, this is a docking station suited for the current generation of Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10 tablets.
The docking station is meant to transition the tablet into Show Mode while charging it at an adjustable angle at the same time. As a special introductory offer, Show Mode Charging Dock for Fire HD 8 can be had for $34.99 (regularly $39.99) and is now available for pre-order through Amazon.
Furthermore, the Show Mode Charging Dock for Fire HD 10 costs $49.99 (regularly $54.99) and is now available for pre-order via Amazon. Both versions of the Show Mode Charging Dock will begin shipping on July 12.
Amazon is making another offer to customers who want to buy their products, so a bundle that includes the Fire HD 8 tablet and the Show Mode Charging Dock will be available for $110 (a $10 savings). Those who wish to buy the Fire HD 10 + Show Mode Charging Dock bundle will be able to save $15, as the package costs $190.
Whenever you dock your Fire HD tablet into the new accessory, the Show Mode will allow you to ask Alexa to show a recipe, set a timer, and then announce when the dinner is ready through other Echo devices that you might have in your home.
Obviously, the Alexa experience provided by the Show Mode includes the option to start a video call with friends and family, watch a movie or TV show, as well as play an Audible book directly on your tablet.
Since the newly announced Show Mode does not come pre-installed on either of the two tablets, Amazon announced that it will be pushed out to the Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10 via a free, OTA (over the air) update starting July 12.
