While we have been getting invitations for a Sony event at the IFA expo next week, nobody could say for sure if the Xperia Z5 would indeed make a cameo so soon after the Z4/Z3+ release. While we wait, a placeholder Sony Georgia Facebook account has posted a couple of colorful cases, claimed to be for the Z5, hinting that the phone will likely keep the general shape and appearance of Sony's flagship Z-series, you can take a look at them below.
This account is also claiming that there will be three new phones from Sony at IFA - a Z5 with 1080p display, a Z5 Compact with a 4.6" 720p panel, and a Z5 Prime with a 5.5" 2160p UltraHD display. It also says that Sony will outfit the three phones with a 20 MP+ camera with 0.1s autofocus, f/1.8 aperture, and phase detection autofocus, indicating the newest IMX230 sensor from Sony will be present. While the IMX230 part is not hard to believe for the next Sony flagship (the Xperia M5 has it, after all), the Z5 Prime tip is most likely a hoax.
The only 5.5" 4K display so far has been announced by Sharp back in the spring, while Sony is part of the Japan Display joint-venture, which doesn't have such an 800+ppi screen in its portfolio just yet. In any case, September 2nd is next week, and we will be relaying all the Sony festivities from the IFA 2015 expo.
