All Nokia smartphones will be updated to Android 9 Pie, not just Android One devices
HMD is one of the few companies that will update all the smartphones it launched to date to Android 9 Pie. Well, Essential does that too, but it has only released one device, so it's much easier to bring major Android OS updates to just one phone.
If you've bought any of the Nokia-branded smartphones launched by HMD Global, you'll be happy to know that the Finnish company plans to provide everyone with Android 9 Pie updates. Although no timeframes have been announced, HMD recently confirmed that no matter what Nokia smartphone you own, you'll eventually receive Android 9 Pie.
Here are all the Nokia smartphones that are expected to get Android 9 Pie in the coming months: Nokia 1 (Android Go), Nokia 2, Nokia 2.1 (Android Go), Nokia 3, Nokia 3.1, Nokia 5, Nokia 5.1, Nokia 6, Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 7 (China-exclusive), Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia X6 (China-exclusive), and Nokia X5 (China-exclusive).
The Nokia 7 Plus is likely to be the first to be updated to Android 9 Pie since it's the only HMD smartphone enrolled in the Developer Preview program. It could be followed by the company's high-end smartphones like Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco. Also, the Android Go smartphones might receive the update before the other mid-range and budget-friendly Nokia handsets.
