Leak claims that the AirPods 2 will have a crazy fast rapid charger
There is a possibility that Apple will introduce the AirPods 2 during the event expected to be held on March 25th. On that date, we could see an updated version of the wireless Bluetooth earphones with water resistance, a grippier rubber coating to keep them in your ears (similar to the material found on the Apple Pencil 2), improved sound, always-on Siri and a new Black color option. And perhaps the most important new feature will be wireless charging.
A new leak says that not only will the AirPods 2 charge wirelessly (using the Qi standard), they will also charge rapidly. A tweet disseminated by XDA's Max Weinbach claims that this new feature, which will charge both the carrying case and the AirPods themselves, will take the battery level on both from 0% to 100% in just 15 minutes. The case, which will also work with the original AirPods, will be bigger and heavier than the current one.
At the same event, we expect to see Apple introduce some new iPads, including the iPad mini 5. The latter will reportedly be nothing more than an iPad mini 4 with an updated A-series chipset. We could also see Apple announce its new Apple News subscription service that will include the Texture magazine platform it purchased last year, and a video streaming service that would compete with Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and others.
