Acer won't go directly against Microsoft's Surface for now, might release Windows RT tablet in Q2
Acer usually delivers good value for money ratio with its Android tablets, and it extended the habit to the Windows slates as well, offering its Win 8 basic W510 IconiaTab for $500.
As for a Windows RT version, it is of the minority amongst larger manufacturers that didn't hint at any plans for releasing one. Now those hesitations are confirmed, as CEO Wong mentioned in an interview that they are taking a wait-and-see approach to see whether Microsoft won't grab the lion's share of sales with its Surface tablet:
Originally we had a very aggressive plan to come out very early next year but because of Surface, our R&D development doesn't stop, but we are much more cautious. Originally our plan was Q1, but now I don't think it will be earlier than Q2.
