AT&T's Samsung Galaxy Note 3 gets Android 5.0 update; Galaxy Note 3 Neo to receive it in Q2
Tuesday afternoon, we told you how AT&T had updated the Samsung Galaxy Note 4to Android 5.0.1. More news on the Android 5.0 update front came from two continents late Tuesday. In North America, AT&T started updating the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to Android 5.0. The update weighs in at a hefty 1.1GB and the carrier will only send out the update for you to download once you're connected to a Wi-Fi network. You should also have your battery recharged to at least 50%.
The update brings the new Material Design, pull-down Quick Settings from any page, Lock Screen notifications, Project Volta, the 64-bit ART compiler, Priority mode that allows only certain notifications to reach you, the Smart Lock that secures your handset when paired with a tablet or wearable, and more. Since the update is being sent out OTA, it is going out in waves which means it might take days before you receive it. You can try to manually coax it out of your phone by going to Settings > General tab > About device > Software updates > Check for updates > follow remaining prompts.

In Europe, Samsung France sent out a tweet that certainly warmed the hearts of all Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo owners. Those sporting the phablet will receive Android 5.0.1 sometime during the second quarter of this year. Initial testing conducted by Samsung apparently revealed that the smaller-screened version of the Galaxy Note 3 is ready, willing, and able to run Android 5.0.1.
