AT&T's Pantech Flex receiving Android 4.1.2 OTA
AT&T announced on Friday that the Pantech Flex will be receiving an update to Android 4.1.2 starting on Friday. Of course, that means owners of the phone will receive Project Butter for smooth and responsive scrolling, Google Now for timely information, and time saving actionable notifications. Also included in the update is AT&T Drive Mode which is an app that helps prevent texting while driving. After the update, widgets that are too big for a particular home screen will automatically re-size to fit.

The Pantech Flex offers a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED screen with resolution of 540 x 960 (qHD) which works out to a pixel density of 256ppi. Under the hood is a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 processor with the Adreno 225 GPU. 1GB of RAM is on board along with 8GB of native storage that can be expanded using the 32GB capacity microSD slot. The 8MP camera on back captures video in 1080 x 1920 at 30fps. The snapper in front weighs in at 2MP and is perfect for self-portraits and video chat. Powering the phone is an 1830mAh battery. A SwiftKey virtual keyboard is pre-installed.

As with most OTA updates, it will be sent out in waves which means that you might not receive it for a few days. That doesn't mean that AT&T is upset with you, or that it has forgotten all about you (your monthly invoice proves that!). It just means that you need to be patient. For those coming from Ice Cream Sandwich, the jump to Jelly Bean is well worth the wait.
