AT&T upgrades their tower's software to 7.2Mbps data, but you won't get it yet

AT&T announced today that they have finished upgrading the software on all their cell towers to support 7.2Mbps HSPA data speeds. While this is a step in the right direction, you still won't get this speed on your phone just yet. Why? Because the backbone-pipe hardware upgrade will not be completed until the end of the year, though AT&T is currently working on hardware upgrades in Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, and Miami, so expect the speed increase to be noticed in those cities first.
