A true edge-to-edge screen: a new prototype phone shows what the future could look like
"Bezel-less" phones with taller, 18:9 screens are becoming the norm among flagships as they maximize screen real estate, but making a true bezel-less phone is hard. For starters, you have an earpiece and a front camera to think about, as well as a range of other sensors. So how do you do it?
Here is an idea: resurrect the old slider form factor of phones. Sounds crazy, but it makes sense as the bottom slide out part can actually house all of those things.
After all, you don't want anything interrupting the all-screen design. And yes, phones might end up being thicker if they are made this way, but isn't this also opportunity to put a larger battery in those devices.
No chin, no notch: a true bezel-less design
It certainly seems like an interesting idea and at least one company seems to be working on it. Right below you can see the result of their work: a prototype of a device that might become real some day in the future.
Would you buy such a phone?
Pretty interesting and convenient way to achieve real bezel-less smartphones design... https://t.co/QfW8YMuSPJpic.twitter.com/x5mfyVOl8L
