A new MVNO - XE Mobile - about to launch
It seems that hardly a week goes by without the launch of a new Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO). This time it is a MVNO, targeting college students, called XE Mobile. Although the official launch is set for next week at CTIA 2006, the service is already available on the company's website. XE Mobile uses Cingular Wireless network. It currently offers four handsets, including two from Motorola RAZR and V180 as well as two from Nokia 3220 and 2600. There are three rate plans. The charges are 15 cents per minute for outgoing calls, 10 cents per minute for incoming calls and 10 cents for outgoing text messages. Incoming messages are free of charge. What is different about XE Mobile is that it offers its subscribers the so called XE Club Card, which provides student discounts at well-known national businesses, including Urban Outfitters, Target and Barnes & Noble.
