9 new Windows Phone handsets to be unveiled tomorrow?
Microsoft has reserved May 24th to unveil “the next major release of Windows Phone,” but latest rumor suggests that the event could bring much more than that. A brand new generation of Windows Phone handsets could accompany the expected Mango update.
A WMPowerUser tipster says that 9 new devices will break cover tomorrow. We’ll see a massive announcement of:
- 4 new handsets by Samsung,
- 2 made by HTC,
- 2 coming from Acer,
- 1 from Dell.
But the unveiling doesn’t necessarily translate into immediate release. Quite the contrary – the handsets could appear as late as this holiday season.
We don’t know much about the upcoming handsets, but one suggestion is that Sammy could try to give its Galaxy S II a WP7 reincarnation. Secondly, HTC is expected to conquer photographer’s hearts with the 16-megapixel HTC Bresson, while Dell is likely to release the full QWERTY Dell Wrigley. What we know for sure, is that those lucky few that got an invitation have already tasted the Mango. For the rest of us – tomorrow will bring the big news.
