52,800 units of ZTE Nubia Z7 Max and ZTE Nubia Z7 Mini sell out in five minutes

Hunger marketing scores again for a Chinese handset manufacturer. The technique, used by Chinese firms like Xiaomi, begins by hyping a particular phone, or line of phones. Once you have the buyers excited, you sell a limited number of handsets online. On Thursday, ZTE sold 52,800 units of the ZTE Nubia Z7 Max and ZTE Nubia Z7 Mini in five minutes. If you couldn't get through to buy either model, don't be sad. You can reserve a unit starting on Friday from ZTE's website, or from online retailer JD.com, and have it sent right to you once the phones ship.

Both the ZTE Nubia Z7 Max and ZTE Nubia Z7 Mini have similar specs, with both offering a 1080 x 1920 resolution screen, a quad-core 2GHz Snapdragon 801 processor and 2GB of RAM. Each model has 16GB of native storage, and the back and front-facing cameras on both phones weigh in at 13MP and 5MP respectively. The difference between both models is the screen size and the battery. The Nubia N7 Max has a 5.5 inch screen while the Nubia Z7 Mini offers a 5 inch glass. Imagine owning a phone called Mini, with a 5 inch screen! The larger phone features a 3100mAh cell while the smaller device includes a 2300mAh battery.

The ZTE Nubia Z7 Max is priced at 1999RMB ($322 USD) while the Mini is priced at 1499RMB ($242 USD). So far, both models are scheduled to be sold in the domestic market only.
