Motorola was founded by Paul and Joseph Galvin in 1928 in Chicago. The company manufactured automotive radios known as Motorola and later expanded its business to other communication services and products. One of the most famous inventions of Motorola is the first handheld wireless phone that used cell towers to connect to the public telephone network.
The company gained popularity in 2004 with the introduction of the Motorola RAZR flip phone series, which sold more than 130 million devices in its four-year run to become the world's best-selling flip phone. In 2020 Motorola resurrected the iconic design with the RAZR (2020) that features a flexible OLED screen that folds horizontally, reminiscent of the original RAZR V3.
