"Following such a hit is a twofold problem. On the one hand, it raises people’s expectations to a level that’s virtually impossible to meet. On the other hand, it sets the bar for what success looks like extremely high."

...If they can't meet the barely-observable S24 ultra increments, the company is doomed.

It's been ... 5? 7? years since any major shift. They could at least put out a major upgrade every 3 years.

"Here's a phone that doesn't quite last a whole day, doesn't have quite a perfect camera, is a little too fragile... btw it's $1000 for the new one" (2010-2025)

S25 , and all samungs after note 3 and Note 4 are designed the same way.

Last best note is 10 plus , after that , no luck at all.

same goes for manufacturers

I don't see any jaw-dropping leaps over the S24 series. I'm still perplexed how companies like Samsung and Apple seem oblivious to the battery and charging tech that companies like OnePlus have been doing for years now.

I have no reason to doubt it will be great.

There really isn't too much you can do every 12 months to make drastic changes to a new model upgrade. Minor improvements to the hardware and more development on the software is more likely.

The sort of people that read articles like this are enthusiasts and most likely change their phones regularly. With that in mind some might think it's not much of an upgrade.

I was always the one to upgrade each year, but I am so happy with my S24 Ultra (especially the boxy industrial design) that I am not going to change it this year, it's a fantastic phone. Upgrading from a much earlier model or different manufacturer, you will be more than happy with the S25 Ultra this year.

Sammy has still a long way to go... it became trendy due to marketing but the quality is very low.

The smallest S24 is the worst one. I'm wondering who would buy this thing outside of the US market, wich has only few brand officially available anyway?

Over 900 EUR for 25W charging, over 3-years old GN5 50MP small sensor (by today's means wich 1" sensors in some models of Xiaomi and Vivo), old design and 10MP 3x camera, wich is outdated from 2021 (S21 Ultra's sensors).

This is far worse than the asked price of the Ultra. The Snapdragon is the only good thing about it. Inferior cameras, charging speed, battery technology, everything screams 2021. If it's not the Snapdragon Elite this would be mid-range, nothing more.

It's hard to say for sure, but based on trends, Samsung tends to improve with each release. If they stick to innovation and address user feedback, it could definitely impress. But, like any new model, expectations will be high!
