Would you not miss the Lightning port, or you're just totally done with it, in your opinion?

No I wouldn't miss it because I have a lot more USB-C cables laying around 😀

Apple makes nice hardware - things are seamless in their Eco system- I have an iPhone Pro 11 from back when to connect with my kids-I prefer an Open to Closed Eco and I'm glad the EU is looking out for the consumer****if the Google could make a Pixel phone or foldable with the same battery life as Apple I would be there

Even though Apple's has to switch to the superior USB-C port, Apple has to put their twist on their USB-C ports on their iPhones. Especially when we are hearing rumours that Apple is going to limit both the data transfer speed, and the charging rate on their iPhone 15 models, unless you purchase Apple's USB-C cables.

I can also see Apple doing more of their saving the planet crap again, especially since Apple doesn't have to include any USB-C cable in the box anymore. I can see Apple's USB-C cables selling a lot more, especially if Apple places limits on their USB-C iPhone devices.

The EU has already squashed Apple's plans to try this in Europe. There were rumors Apple was goign to try to gimp the port, to only allow full speed charging and data transfers when only using an Apple licensed cable.

This alone shows how terrible this company is. Nothing new from them.

The main reason Apple didn't use the port they help design, was the revenue they would lose because USB-C is standard and Lightning is proprietary. Apple can't make money off open standards, which is why they don't use them.

IBM was also like this. See where they are now? They have been reduced from a hardware company to just software and server-side solutions.

Apple makes the majority of its cash on hardware, especially iPhone. In lost in revenue from iPhone, can't be made up on the Mac or iPad.

So Apples needed time to come up with a way to reduced these loses. You can expect, the phone price will rise and so will the prices of Apple's accessories as they likely will increase licensing of what they have left of proprietary products.

That just won't happen. Apple would just completely get rid of it in the iPhones or think of something else. Lightning is superior, more compact, sturdier.

Really? Lightning is superior to what? It's slower than USB 3.1 and USB-C. Power transfer and data transfer is slower than open standards of USB. The USB-C cable is also reversible and it fits very tight.

I think you're just ignorant to facts. Typical of Apple fan!!! None of Apple's products are superior to any other similar product that you can buy for far less money. Its people like you is why Apple gets iver on charging you more money to get what is effectively a mediocre option.

The new usb-c on Apple phones could cause the battery to explode if charged for too long. This would cause the owner to get a new phone with the jacked up prices they are claimed to have. I do not think this new charger port will sustain the needs of Apple.

False!!!!

Where’s that kid who swore up and down in every article on the subject, that apple would go full wireless long before going usb-c? Is he still around?

His user name was Baldilocks or smoothing like that.

I live in a household where one uses Android and the other Apple. The Apple user has always commented how it would be muchh easier to just switch to the USB-C, especially after having purchased an iPad Pro that does have USB-C. I plan to finally jump to the Apple side with the iPhone 15 Ultra or Max (whichever they decide to name it) but if they put a limitation of having to use Apple propriety USB-C cables to get the fastest charging, I'll go with the Samsung S24 Ultra when it is released early next year.

Same here. I got away from Apple BECAUSE OF THEIR PROPRIETARY BULLCHIT, so the move towards being "standards-based", in this case with USB-C, is a move in the right direction.

Who wants to own "adapters" and carry then around, just to accommodate Apple's greed...

Like many have mentioned. Apple was dragged into updating to a USB-C kicking and screaming. They are looking for ways to turn it proprietary because milking their users is all they care about. They don't do things because they care about their loyal customers. They do things to extract every last penny from their blind, loyal customers. That is why I would never buy anything from Apple. I am not a fat plumpy cow to a blood sucking vampire.

Oh wow, I didn't think about that! 😅 Now we'll get phones without cables in the box too, huh.. 😅
