It doesn't matter how long it lasts when you have OnePlus WARP/Super VOOC charging. This is one less thing I have to think about with a OP device.

Perfect answer.

Are you talking about solid state batteries?

No, Mariyan, there are different resources and developments made in new revolutionary battery findings made by several different universities around the world, but nobody wants to talk about that not adopt that, because then users (us) won't buy new phones every 2-3 years apart... in that case, your phone could serve you fit at least 5-6 years... Same goes for software updates... they could give you updates for 5-6 years, but they are not doing that intentionality...

-give me IMX 989 main camera

-give me big sensor in telephoto like find x6 pro, with floating lens added macro capabilities like xiaomi 13 pro and with continuous optical zoom like sony xperia 1 V, but make it 3x-10x

-give me the biggest possible sensor for ultrawide

-cut the crap with big round circular camera. I do like S23 ultra camera design, it's acceptable, but we all have to admit that Pixel 6 series has the sleekest camera design. It's practical too, a whole camera bar where you can put all the sensors, plus it doesn't wobble.

-give me the fastest possible charging with at least 6000 mah battery like Asus ROG 7

-give me at least 16 GB of the latest RAM and 512 GB of ROM

-take a page out of sony xperia 1 V book and choose whatever materials you want, but please make the phone so that I don't need to put a case on it. I dropped my phone a few times over the years, luckily it never shattered, just small bumps, but these days I can't rock a phone without a transparent silicone case because it's too slippery. If I am at a table, I place my phone on the table and if the table is inclined in the slightest of angle ... the phone slips to the ground. Same if I place it on the table, on the cigarettes pack ... It easily slips to the ground. This is a problem. If you drop your phone and it shatters ... you deserve it for not taking care of it, but I should be able to put my phone on a wooden table without sliding like on ice.

-give me sim tray like xperia 1 V

-GIVE ME IR BLASTER for god's sake

-give me 3.5 mm jack

-and actually the most important after squarish display ... give me colours, dozens of them and also make some eye catching dual or triple contrasty combinations. I don't mind paying a hefty premium for a special colorway, like with sneakers.

That’s one hell of a list. If only we could customise our phones the way we build PCs and laptops:))

There’s one more thing. The best specs on paper not always translate to the best user experience.

The bigger problem is planned obsolescence in my opinion. Smartphone chips are pretty fast and have been for the past couple of years. But software is getting more and more demanding, to keep the whole machine running.

There’s no need for a new Snapdragon every year, or a new Android version, for that matter. I’m sure an efficient chipset and optimised software could run for days on a 5,000 mAh battery.

So, the solution is not to make phones last longer but to charge them faster (more times)? Looks like a workaround I’m not comfortable with.

We should fix batteries. Energy density and charge cycles :)

It wasn't too long ago we had phones last a week, no problem. Battery life was measured in days. Then smartphones came out and we went backwards. And stayed there.

But flip phones did so much less, and didn't have power hungry 4G/5G radios in them. And honestly, even though my phone could probably go 3-5 days on a charge, it went on the charger every night when I went to bed. Just like my smartphone.

It should be 2 working days.

It should be so that if you were not able to charge one day for reasons, the you would still have a working phone.

Also if you can cut the number of charging cycles in half then the battery would problably keep its full capacity longer.

If i could award you gold for worst comparison ever i would.

A smartphone is a pocket computer , the old cells phones did calling and texting.

Nope. What I am saying is: Until the battery "issue" is fixed (which I mainly see with Apple and their selling small batteries AND slow charging capabilities while maintaining the $1,000+ price point [without even supplying a brick in the box, mind you]), I can put that issue in the back of my mind. And I parenthesize ISSUE because I no longer have one.

I get that. We just shouldn’t be conditioned to charge our phones every day or twice a day!

That's a neat idea, which will require a big flywheel to capture that kinetic energy, store it, and then convert it to electricity when needed. I'm not sure how much exactly, but it should add substantial weight to the phone. The same goes for solar chargers; it has been tried before, but there's not enough surface area on the phone to capture any meaningful amount of energy from sunlight.

We just have to pump in energy from outside...

There's no need for a flywheel. Akin to in self winding watches, where the kinetic energy is used to wind the spring that powers it, the kinetic energy can be converted to electricity and stored in the battery.
