Still, I don't see the purpose of even that kind of gentle curve. I remember 2.5D glass when it came along, it was all the rage, maybe that's the perfect compromise...

Neither do I. I'd rather a flat screen, but at least it makes for smaller bezels.

flat or with some kind of a "pillow" shape like the screen of the lumia 930, or 2.5D like the ones on the Lumia 800/920

Fad that has come and gone. Otherwise Apple would have made their own by now.

I'm a curved screen guy. I have the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra and with the case on... The side screen bezels are razor thin. You really gotta look to see them. Love this phone. Love the curves.

Bought my first curved screen phone. It will be my last. Gave it to my daughter. Slippery as ice. IMO, curved screens exist to break and make more money for the companies who make them. Never again!

Exactly. There really isn't much gain in functionality or aesthetic, plus it makes it that much more of an abuse magnetic, even with the best screen protectors/phone cases. It quite literally sticks out like a sore thumb.

ZTE gang. In fact I don't think folks understand how important the Nubia line was/still is to the smartphone space. No phone maker even back then had the idea of a "bezel" less phone, well SHARP tried at it, didn't quite take off.

Hmm.

Not sure about that, Sammy display tech covers close to and at least 70% of mid-high range devices, this includes Apple products.

And if I recall, though I may be well off key, the one major reseason Apple doesn't advertise their displays as "modified Sammy panels" is because they've given it the Retina moniker for so long thag it surely wouldn't matter to the consumer.
