A case is plastic and protects everything inside so I'm saying plastic! lol

Jokes aside, plastic seems to be a good material. If there were only plastic phone available, no one would care. It's because people have egos that need protecting and that's the only thing a plastic casing can't protect.

Let Vertu resurrect and make fragile bling cases for thousands of dollars, so that the gilded age crowd can flaunt their wealth. That way we can all have thin and light stock phones that actually function properly for a mobile device and not jewelry or status symbols.

Why not a rubber compound? There are compounds as firm and durable as plastic that could be used, I would think. Comments?

I believe if they make a phone with entire glass body and seal it shut with capacitive buttons and wireless charging, would make the best concept phone. if not the metal is the best material. I'd trade a metal back phone to glass or plastic any day. oh and lets face it, wireless charging is a gimmick, it's a huge waste of electricity and resources, battery degrading, and frankly none of us using wireless charging as a routine charging method.

all in all, the plastic is bad for the environment, your health and is flimsy, glass is fragile, but metal is the most durable and feels great in the hand.

I'm all FOR rubber and its derivatives but it won't be as premium-feeling as metal or even plastic...

We need to handle our phones like the military handles their weapons: never let it fall.

Have you been in the real world though while constantly using the phone as a multi-use tool or just like little office/cubicle and stuff?

Talking about "military" phones, there a reason those have huge ass cases, even larger that any otterbox:

I went from u iphone 14 pro max to Pixel 6A early this year, and it was so satisfying not worrying about the backglass,

I waited for the pixel 7A for the same reason, but sadly my work came me s23, so now I had to use cover and it is not the same.

I still think Samsungs Note 4 was one of the best designed phones ever. Solid and durable metal frame with a textured plastic back, it was very comfortable in hand and easy to hold.

Plastic is durable for long enough to matter, versatile enough to allow great variety of designs, and generally cheaper than any other option. Plastic is fine!
