iOS 8.2 beta released, Apple Watch support in tow

9comments

The latest iOS beta for the iPhone, version 8.2, appears to confirm that the Apple Watch will arrive on the scene with big system update and separate watch app for iOS devices.

While the new watch is expected to take its curtain call in March, and while the sales channels are gearing up for the Apple Watch “event” of sorts, developers are gearing up to make sure the watch actually works with its intended iPhone companion.

The new iOS 8.2 beta does not allow access to the Apple Watch app, but it is there for all to see within the Bluetooth settings. The Apple Watch app will be a stand-alone app that allows for management of the watch settings, and will also facilitate the download and installation of apps directly to the watch.

The Apple Watch app will also serve as a way for the iPhone to share some of the processing load with some apps on the watch in an effort to spare the wearable of power-hungry tasks sapping the battery.
