Xiaomi to introduce new devices on its fifth birthday at the end of this month
It is hard to believe, but on March 31st Xiaomi will turn five. What a five years it has been as Xiaomi quickly has became one of the largest smartphone manufacturers on the planet, exceeding the market share of many companies who have been around for much longer. To celebrate its anniversary, Xiaomi has announced that it plans on introducing some new devices on the last day of the month.
We could see the unveiling of Xiaomi's smartwatch at the event. Earlier this month, there was some speculation that the timepiece would carry a large display and use pulse wave velocity identification to track a user's blood pressure. While tallying a user's heart rate has become cliche on wearables these days, capturing an accurate blood pressure reading without a cuff could help push demand for the watch among those serious about tracking their health in real time.
We also might see at the event the Xiaomi mid-ranger that we told you about yesterday. With a code name of "Ferrari," this device has been benchmarked at GFXBench where we learned about the 4.9-inch glass (with a 1080 x 1920 resolution) that this phone will sport. The site also tattled about the 64-bit octa-core 1.6GHz Snapdragon 615 CPU and the Adreno 405 GPU that will be nestled inside the handset. The unit will have a newer version of MIUI running on top of Android 5.0.2.
Better circle the date on your calendar, or make a note on your smartphone. The Xiaomi 5-year birthday party is less than a week away.
