Xiaomi sends out invitations; Mi 5s unveiling to take place September 27th

Many of you are apparently interested in the Xiaomi Mi 5s. This is an enhanced version of the Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship model and features some rather high-end specs. It is expected to be the first to use the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner made by Qualcomm. That means that the biometric reader will be embedded under the screen.

Speaking of the screen, it is a 5.15-inch display, with a 1080 x 1920 resolution. The Snapdragon 821 chipset is under the hood carrying a quad-core 2.4GHz CPU, and the Adreno 530 GPU. There are two, possibly three different variations of the Xiaomi Mi 5s. One comes with 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM with 64GB of internal memory. Another features 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 128GB of native storage, and there is some talk about a version with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 256GB of flash memory.

The 16MP camera that adorns the back offers 4-axis OIS, PDAF focusing, and an f/1.8 aperture. A 3490mAh battery keeps the lights on, and Quick Charge 3.0 helps the cell regain power quickly. As usual, we expect Xiaomi to offer great value with its pricing. And we should find out about the pricing, specs, and launch date on September 27th. That is when the phone will be unveiled, according to a press invitation that Xiaomi reportedly has been sending out now. The invites show a stylized letter "S" that also looks like the number "5."

With the unveiling now expected to take place a week from tomorrow, we wouldn't be surprised to see some more leaks over the next few days. Over the weekend, images of both the front and back of the device surfaced. If you're interested in following what is happening with the Xiaomi Mi 5s, check in early and often.
