Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 leaks with specs and price a day before unveiling
Just a day before its official unveiling, the next blockbuster from Xiaomi - Redmi Note 2 - has been leaked extensively in flesh and blood, alongside its specs and price tag. Well, it's mostly plastic, but that's beside the point.
Just as expected, the phone will feature a 5.5-inch 1080 x 1920 resolution screen. and 2 GB of RAM are on board, along with 16 GB of expandable storage. The rear-facing camera is a 13 MP unit, with a 5MP snapper in the front, ready to shoot selfies. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 measures 8.05 mm thin, and is slated to weigh 159 grams. A 3100 mAh battery unit is inside, and Android 5.0.2 is pre-installed. The new piece of the puzzle is the fast Helio X10 chipset, clocked at 2.2 GHz.
The phone will also have a version with 3 GB of RAM, and the company promised it will sell in the three digits at the most (that's Chinese yuan, of course), pegging it at about $156, perhaps for the most decked-out variation. Sounds pretty promising for that price, but this year Xiaomi will have the excellent Meizu M2 Note to battle in this price range, so let's hope that MIUI 7 will be enough of a competitive advantage when the new UI gets unveiled tomorrow.
