Windows Phone 8.1 to be pushed out in the first two weeks of next month?
A tweet from the Microsoft India Twitter account, might have given us an idea when to expect Windows Phone 8.1 to be released. In response to a question about when to expect the update, Microsoft India replied that it would be made available to existing Windows Phone 8 users some time during the first two weeks of July. The only question is whether this answer is specific to the Indian market, or relates to a global roll out of the latest Windows Phone build.
U.S. recipients of the update are looking forward to the Windows Phone 8.1 update, because it will bring virtual personal assistant Cortana to their devices. First available only as part of the U.S. update to Windows Phone 8.1, the personal assistant will eventually be offered to Windows Phone 8.1 users around the world.
Windows Phone 8.1 is currently available out of the box on the Nokia Lumia 630 and Nokia Lumia 635. It can also be installed on the Windows Phone 8 handsets owned by those who have registered as developers with Microsoft. As we told you on Saturday, 7.7% of global Windows Phone users are rocking Windows Phone 8.1 according to mobile ad network AdDuplex.
