Windows Phone 8.1 icon sets pulled from emulator
Icon sets pulled from the Windows Phone 8.1 emulator reveal some of the functions that Cortana will be able to handle. For those unaware, Cortana is expected to be the platform's virtual voice activated personal assistant, similar to Siri on iOS and Google Now on Android. Based on the icons, Cortana will be able to give out information like directions, while warning you about traffic and construction. Cortana can also take notes, pass along stock prices, set alarms and appointments, control features like Wi-Fi and activate the Do Not Disturb mode.

Action Center shows icons for quick settings and includes the ones you would expect to see on such a panel. These include icons for brightness, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and there is even one for Caps Lock.

Other icon sets have been pulled for the Start screen, Maps, Wallet and Camera applications. Microsoft appears to be pulling out all of the stops with this update, hoping that it will enable Windows Phone to better challenge iOS and Android. Check out all of the icons that have been revealed by viewing the slideshow below.
