Windows Phone 8.1 GDR 2 rumored to be coming October 8th for developers
A leaked screenshot of Cortana doing her thing in Polish is helping fan the speculative fires about the GDR2 update for Windows Phone 8.1. A tweet from a contributor to a Polish Windows Phone blog indicates that on October 8th, the update will start rolling out to Preview for Developers. Among the changes expected are a mobile data toggle switch for the Action Center, support for the Snapdragon 805 processor, and the spreading of the Alpha version of Cortana to more countries. The update is also rumored to include support for a 2K resolution screen.
While the Developer Preview version of the update might be released in October, the carrier version of Windows Phone 8.1 GDR2 might not see the light of day until next year. Those Windows Phone 8.1 users in regions where Cortana is not yet available are keeping their fingers crossed, hoping that they will be getting the personal assistant with the upcoming update.
