These images reportedly show the new metal build of the unannounced Xiaomi MiPad 2
In India the other day, Xiaomi sold out two weeks worth of inventory for its Xiaomi MiPad tablet in just one hour. The tablet went back on sale yesterday in the country as inventories were re-stocked. Even though the tablet continues to sell well, there is speculation that the company is working on a sequel to the MiPad. A pair of pictures allegedly showing the second-gen Xiaomi tablet have leaked.
Looks wise, the MiPad 2 has a resemblance to the Xiaomi Note. Both share curved glass and a common placement of the front-facing camera and other sensors. The new iteration of Xiaomi's slab will reportedly dump the plastic build of the original for a metal frame with a glass back. We might also see the tablet feature the capability to make and take phone calls.
The MiPad 2 also will supposedly be the first Xiaomi device to come with MIUI 6, which is based on Android 5.0. Right now, there is no word on when the tablet might see the light of day.
