The Xiaomi Mi 4c works with both Type-C and MicroUSB cables
Xiaomi president and co-founder Lin Bin has been really talking up the Xiaomi Mi 4c, which is supposed to be unveiled on September 22nd. Only 100,000 handsets are being made, and the phone is expected to launch on October 3rd. There will be three versions of the device, one with 16GB of internal storage carrying 2GB of RAM. Another model will offer 32GB of native storage combined with 3GB of RAM, and lastly there will be a 64GB storage option, also with 3GB of RAM.

The only pricing info we have suggests that the model with 32GB of storage and 3GB of RAM, will be offered for $235 USD. And while the handset will use the Type-C USB port, Bin has explained that not everyone will be pleased as punch to have faster data transfer and charging speeds. As a result, those who really, really want to keep the old MicroUSB connection will be able to do so. A MicroUSB cable comes with the Xiaomi Mi 4c out of the box. A Type-C adapter connects to the plug on the end of the cable to convert the MicroUSB plug into a Type-C connector. This way both the techies and the luddites are happy.

While the Xiaomi Mi 4c seems to be a stop gap launch, eventually someone is going to realize that the manufacturer has gone more than a year without a proper sequel to the Xiaomi Mi 4. You don't have to be a cat to be curious as to why only 100,000 units are being made, so we are hoping that Mr. Lin will answer that question, and also reveal whether production of the Xiaomi Mi 5 is being held up as Xiaomi waits for Snapdragon 820 inventory.

Thanks for the tip!
