T-Mobile finally updating the Sony Xperia Z3 to Android 5.0 Lollipop
In a few hours, T-Mobile will finally start updating its version of the Sony Xperia Z3 to Android 5.0 Lollipop. Back in mid-May, the Magenta carrier started testing the new Android version on the Xperia Z3, and the software update seems to be finally ready for mass deployment. In some markets across the globe, the Xperia Z3 was updated to 5.0 Lollipop as early as mid-March.
The carrier will start sending out the OTA update at midnight (PDT) tonight. Since this is an OTA rollout, it might take a while before the update reaches your device. To check for the availability of new software updates, you can head on to Settings -> About phone -> Software update.

Aside from the usual Lollipop goodies, such as a new UI based on Google's Material Design, a new and improved lockscreen, a new multitasking window, and the new 64-bit ART runtime, T-Mobile's update will also include support for LTE Band 13, meaning that some T-Mobile customers should see better LTE coverage from the carrier.
T-Mobile is the only carrier in the US that sells the Sony Xperia Z3. A couple of months ago, the carrier stopped selling the smartphone, only to bring it back a couple of weeks later at a lower price.
The carrier has yet to update the support page for the Sony Xperia Z3, meaning that we don't have additional information about the update. We'll update this post with relevant information as soon as it becomes available.
