Sony's online store says sayonara on August 28th, will be replaced by an "exciting new website"
If something has caught your eye on the online Sony Store, you only have until August 28th at 4pm EDT to make the purchase. Why? Because the manufacturer is closing down the store at that precise date and time. The company has already alerted previous customers by sending out an email, and a post on the site also passes along the news that the Store is shutting down.
While Sony hasn't exactly been raking in the bucks with its mobile devices, the store includes many different Sony products including their branded cameras (digital and video), audio products, wearables, and of course, unlocked phones and tablets. In a blurb printed on top of the U.S. site, Sony reminds those with gift cards to use them before the store sails into the sunset.
The manufacturer doesn't plan on leaving the internet, however. Sony says that it will replace the store with an "exciting new product website that includes our authorized retailers for your purchase preference." No date was mentioned by Sony as to when the new site will be launched. We might hear more information about the new site before the end of this month.
