Sony Xperia Z1 mini likely coming to China in mid-January, international roll-out now inevitable?

Sony's mini version of the Xperia Z1 has been a real puzzler of a device for quite some time now. Sony is keeping its mouth firmly shout, allowing speculations to run amok, feeding upon all the uncertainty. Uncertainty caused by the fact that Japan has had the device for a few months now, while the rest of the world is still holding its breath. Naturally, this has been reason enough for some to give up on the device altogether, while others propagate the belief that the phone will remain something of a locals-only type deal.

Yet, there's still hope, as Sony has just posted a new mysterious teaser on its Chinese webpage. Now, we were actually expecting the Japanese manufacturer to announce the more compact version of its flagship today, though seeing as it's near the end of the day over in China already, it does seem like we were fed false hope. Luckily, this time around we have something a bit more concrete, as the simplistic new teaser shows the four colors in which the Xperia Z1 mini launched in Japan (a.k.a the Xperia Z1f). The hinted date is January 14th, and we do hope that the wait is close to its end – the Xperia Z1 mini sure feels like one of the most anxiously anticipated handsets right now. Those of you wondering why that may be, it's actually pretty simple – Sony's device is the first mini version of flagship that doesn't skimp on the specs. It packs the same powerful Snapdragon 800 chipset, along with the highlight of the Z1 – the 20.7MP snapper on the back. Some compromises have been made – the 4.3-inch device packs a 720p resolution display instead of a 1080p one, and the battery capacity has been brought down to 2300mAh – though we find no reason to complain. This still is some incredible hardware in a truly petite body -- an utter rarity these days.
