Major Sony Xperia Z Ultra firmware update brings support for the mobile X-Reality engine, adds new features
A new 14.1.B.510 major firmwareupdate for the Sony Xperia Z Ultra (C6802) has started rolling out in the Asia-Pacific region, and it brings along some overdue goodies.Among these are support for Sony's highly touted mobile X-Realityengine, which promises to increase the overall playback quality oflocally-stored media, such as photos and movies, by adjusting thelevels of sharpness, saturation, contrast, noise-reduction and evenreproduction of lackingpixels. The rest of the reported improvements and new featuresinclude:
Overall performance increase and improvements in battery life
New stock widgets – Clock, Alarm Clock and Calculator among others
Multiple small apps can now be opened at once
Refreshed design as far as the messenger and e-mail apps are concerned
Superior Auto mode added to the camera appearance
One-handed text input now possible
Background UI has gone white-grey
The update measures at 770MB, andyou'll need to use Sony's PC Companion suite to download and flashit.
