Sony Xperia XA1 arriving in Europe on April 10, it's cheaper than expected

When Sony unveiled the Xperia XA1 last month at Mobile World Congress (MWC), the Japanese company said the smartphone would hit the shelves on April 26 for $299.99. It also suggested its bigger brother, the Xperia XA1 Ultra, would arrive this summer for a slightly higher price.

However, it looks like European retailers have been able to secure Xperia XA1 stocks much earlier than expected. UK-based retailer Clove has just confirmed Sony's mid-range Android smartphone will start shipping on April 10, more than two weeks earlier than the forecasts.

Clove is now taking pre-orders for the Xperia XA1, which costs £229 ($280). The smartphone is available in four different colors: Black, Gold, Pink, and White.

The smartphone that ships with Android 7.0 Nougat on board is powered by an octa-core MediaTek processor, coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB of expandable memory.

One of the phone's main selling points is the 23-megapixel rear-facing camera with Sony Exmor RS sensor. Also, the Xperia XA1 mid-range smartphone comes with an additional 8-megapixel selfie camera and a decent 5-inch display with HD (720p) resolution.

Its bigger brother has a larger 6-inch full HD (1080p) display and a better 16-megapixel camera on the front. The Xperia XA1 Ultra is equipped with the same MediaTek chip but packs 4GB RAM, so we're also expecting the phone to cost more. It's unclear whether or not this one will be available in Europe.
