Sony Xperia C4 starts to receive Android 5.1, not Marshmallow as first thought
With a front-facing flash for its 5MP selfie camera, the Sony Xperia C4 was marketed during the summer by the manufacturer as the best selfie-shooting smartphone. Besides including the flash, the camera lens allows users to take wide-angle selfies negating the need for a selfie stick. In October, Sony released a list of several phones that it said would skip Android 5.1 and be updated directly to Android 6.0. The Sony Xperia C4 was named as one of those devices.
But it appears that Sony has decided to change its mind. Today, there have been several report claiming that the Xperia C4 has started to receive Android 5.1. The update reportedly has started rolling out to five out of the six Xperia C4 variants. The one model not receiving the update at the moment is E5343. Meanwhile, the other five versions are getting Lollipop including the Xperia C4 (software build 27.2.A.0.155) and Xperia C4 Dual (27.2.B.0.155).
So there is a pit stop for most Sony Xperia C4 owners before Marshmallow. It might be upsetting to some, but Android 6.0 will still be loaded on to the device, just a little later than expected.

Unfortunately, the current update isn't bringing Android 6.0 to the Xperia C4 as Sony originally said it would. Android 5.1 includes changes to Quick Settings making it easier to connect to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Minor changes to Screen Pinning allows users to see exactly how to leave the mode. Your contacts will no longer show Google+ photos of those on your list. New animations are now included for the four icons on top of the clock app (alarm, world time, timer and stopwatch) and the Auto-rotate setting in Quick Settings is also animated.
