Sony SmartBand and LifeLog apps launched via Google Play

Back in February, Sony announced that its new SmartBand would be released starting March. However, the wearable device doesn’t seem to be officially available yet. Each and every Sony online store in Europe is listing the SmartBand as coming soon - in May, to be exact. As for the US, the SmartBand doesn’t show up at Sony’s online store at all there.

Anyway, today Sony launched official SmartBand and LifeLog apps, both of which can be downloaded via Google Play.

The SmartBand wearable and the two accompanying apps are currently optimized for the Xperia Z2 and other Xperias running Android KitKat (Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 and Z1 Compact). Broader compatibility will be available in the coming weeks.

The SmartBand app will allow you to “decide how your SmartBand interacts with your smartphone and which life logging functions are enabled.” The LifeLog app will provide info about your physical activities, communications, and entertainment. It can also monitor your progress, and set activity goals. The two apps are available at the source links below.
