Sony Ericsson Italy says the Android ICS update for the 2011 Xperia crop to arrive March 2012
We knew Sony Ericsson promised that all of its 2011 portfolio of Android handsets will be updated to the newest Android Ice Cream Sandwich, we just didn't know when.
Courtesy of Maurizio de Palma, the Marketing Manager of Sony Ericsson Italy, now we know that the update is due to arrive around March 2012, a month when the company has been releasing its new Xperia handsets in the past two years after announcements at the MWC expos.
He says the ICS code was only released November 15, so it will take a while to code everything for updating the 2011 Xperias, and even March seems quite an ambitious goal to us, but hopefully it will turn out indeed the case. With a bunch of new handsets slated for release, Sony Ericsson might have a hard sell for them if at the same time it upgrades the 2011 crop to ICS, but let's hope they will be compelling enough to warranty that.

After all, the company brought Gingerbread to its old 2010 handsets, and promised it has learned its lesson with the Android updates, so Sony Ericsson might turn out the fastest out there to bring ICS to all its 2011 customers.
