Sharp and Samsung rumored to be the two display panel suppliers for the upcoming Apple iPad Pro
According to a new report from Taiwan, Sharp and Samsung will be the two companies that will provide display panels for the upcoming Apple iPad Pro / Plus.
This fresh rumor suggests that the iPad Pro will be launched at some point in late Q3 or early Q4. In the past, Apple launched new iPad models in either October or November, and it would certainly make a lot of sense for the company to launch the new iPad Pro alongside updated iPad Air and iPad Mini models.
The report also suggests that Sharp, a traditional display panel supplier for Apple iPhones and iPads, will be the primary display supplier for the upcoming productivity-centered iPad. In fact, the report actually claims that, at launch, Sharp could be the sole supplier. Allegedly, Samsung will fill in the role of a secondary supplier, as the company is rumored to start manufacturing iPad Pro panels in September. Furthermore, the report claims that Apple considered including LG-manufactured display panels in some iPad Pro units, but that these plans were abandoned due to low yields.
